Bubble Tea

Today, I was introduced to Bubble Tea (or Boba Tea).

Here are the ingredients (just add ice and milk) and special straws...

Here are the "Bubbles" - strange looking black tapioca pearls.
And here is the finished product...
Stop on by, we'll fix you up one. It's pretty good if you can get used to sucking fish egg-like balls through a large straw.

  1. Barb-

I read your blog daily and enjoy hearing about all the Johnson family adventures. Funny story about bubble tea-- When I had it in Taiwan I was convinced the"strange" black tapioca pearls were fish eyes. Where did you get the ingredients and straws? My friend would love to make bubble tea for family and friends! The Chinese word for bubble tea is Jin Ju Nai Cha...

  2. Shannon,
Hi there! I didn't know you read my blog! What an honor :)

Yes, those black chewy things are a little, shall we say, strange! Tasty though. We bought the ingredients and straws from an Asian market in Burnsville (Hwy. 13) called Florida Oriental Market (it's east/north of the DQ on 13). Apparently many of the Asian markets carry the ingredients and you can get the recipe on-line.

    Have fun!!
