Little Wild Bunnies

Little wild bunnies,
in the twilight morning light.
Why do you stop by my plants
and eat to your delight?

There is plenty of green stuff
all 'round this place,
why must you pick my plants
to feed your furry face?

If you only ate a leaf or two
I wouldn't say a peep,
But you've stripped the plants bare
while I am fast asleep!

Oh, little wild bunnies,
you really are quite cute,
but if I had a gun
you can be sure I'd shoot!

The Battle of the Bunnies has been raging here for several months, but it has reached a new level over the weekend. We were away at the cabin enjoying the wonderful weather. While we were gone, the wild bunnies of our yard were enjoying the wonderful foliage I planted next to the driveway this summer! What is with these bunnies???? They started stripping my phloxes of their leaves and flowers, so I fenced in the phlox and then they started going after another plant. When I fenced that in, they just chose another to eat. So, now, instead of having a wonderful, flower-filled garden next to my driveway, I have a few totally dead plants and some very sickly looking ones with fencing around them. Not quite the look I was going for in that area. Grrr.

  1. I was thinking that maybe the bunnies are Sweetie's...your grandbunnies...or would it be greatgrand bunnies? What grandmother would deny her grandbunnies her green tasty plants!

  2. Tina,
Although that is an intriguing thought, I've seen these little criminals and they don't resemble Sweetie at all!! They are villainous little creatures disguised as furry, cute little things...

  3. I thought our bunnies were bad, but yours are even wors. Have you tried fox urine around the plants? Check the internet for other options. Mom
