When It Rains, It Pours

And when it rains the past few days it blows really hard, too.   Last night was the American Cancer Society Relay for Life (thanks again to all who donated to our team - our team was the top fundraiser for the event!!).  We got out to the track around 2:30 to start setting up our "camp".  The wind was HORRENDOUS.  Have you ever tried setting up tents and canopies in 30 mph wind?  It isn't easy and it isn't fun either.  After a couple hours of fighting with the tents (oh, I failed to mention the 90 degree temps or the really high humidity and the fact that Zoe was in a funk and had to be ergo-ed to my back while setting up the tent), we were finally ready to relax and enjoy the evening and consume lots and lots of pop and water to rehydrate ourselves.

The event actually started at 6:00 pm with a program and then the cancer survivors there did a lap of the track (yeah, Dad) and then they did another lap with the caregivers.  Finally the relay was set to begin, unfortunately, so was the severe weather.  By about 7:30 the event was called off because severe weather was headed our way (like 65 mph winds).  SO, we then took down all the tents and canopies, put away all the food and stuff and headed home (actually we headed to my parent's house to spend more time together.  We were VERY disappointed!  When the storm did hit though, we were glad not to be out walking around a track or hiding in a tent.  The organizers made the right call in canceling the walk, but we're sad about it nonetheless.

Despite the brevity of the event, we still managed to get a few pictures taken.

Here's my dad taking his survivor's lap with his buddy Aidan (Emily walked with Grandpa, too, she's just not in the picture).
Here's my sister, Deb, the rock star.  Actually she's an RN who just looks like a rock star.  Actually, at the Relay they had a booth set up for crazy hairdos and Deb, being the craziest one of the bunch, decided to get hers done.  I think it's pretty becoming on her, don't you?
Here's Deb with our normal looking sister, Kathy.  Aren't they cute!
Here are Deb's & Kathy's husbands.  Can you match the husband with the right sister?  Let me know.  They are both artists and both bald (all three of us girls married bald men.  Hmm, strange.  Actually, they all had hair when we married them.  Even stranger is that we all married men that have only brothers - lots of brothers - now that's something worth analyzing).
