Today in history class we made butter (we're studying colonial America at the moment). I thought you might like a little view of our school day. Trust me, it's not always so chaotic (well, sometimes it's not so chaotic)
And then the final results were...

It goes so much faster with the Kitchenaid and a whisk! Then, you can use the buttermilk for pancakes! I always feel like a Prov. 31 wife when I do that.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a good time! I'm just not sure the dances were authentic!! We love to eat our homemade butter on crackers. Yummm.
ReplyDeletewish my history class did stuff like that...

Now Jen, I'm not sure KitchenAid would be quite as authentic (not that marbles in a canning jar are authentic either). Besides, it's just not as fun to dance with your KitchenAid (or maybe it is, I've never tried).
ReplyDeleteWhose dog was that wandering through your kitchen during the butter churning(?) dance?
ReplyDeleteAh, yes, the mysterious and large dog in the kitchen (that my kids are heard yelling at) - that would be Quin the labradoodle we are dogsitting for the week. What's another dog amidst all the chaos?

How very fun! I really would like to try this with our kids, too. Since I like being mentioned so much in your blog could I ask you for how to directions? We are not studing that period in history but the girls would just like to try it I am thinking.
ReplyDeleteBarb, you really need a recipe blog and a homeschool blog kind of like your Christmas News letter one. Teasing...but it would be good...
Barb, I did not realize those were videos. Very fun to see the kids in action. Zoe was just SO cute shaking the butter! Our quiet school moments are WAY WAY louder and chaotic than your butter making school day.
