Friday Fotos

Crazy week which entailed getting a new phone, so Friday Fotos are primarily selfies 😂

Sneak Preview

Those of you waiting for more wedding photos might like to take a look at the preview of the professional shots.

Here's a teaser...

You can view the other preview shots at the Simple Life Portraits blog.

We had the best photographers!!!!!  Okay, we're a little biased.  Simple Life Portraits is the photography business of Nina's birthmom and her husband.  We were so blessed to have them share Evan & Erin's special day with us!  Can't wait to see the rest of the photos!

This Happened!

Wow, it's December 26 and I've only done nine blog posts this month!  Sorry about that, folks.  Truthfully, I've been in a bit of a funk lately.

There's been a lot going on around out house this month, as you might guess - two birthdays, candy making, cookie baking, random sleepover parties, Christmas celebrations, etc. - but apparently, I couldn't find time (or energy) to blog about most of it.  I will try to do better next month!

For now, here is a summary of the month of December in picture form...

Candy making happened

Christmas with Chris' family happened

Chris' birthday happened (as much as he would like to pretend that he is not a year older)

Cookie baking/spa night with my high school small group happened

Then Christmas happened, but I'll give that it's own post!

The Littles Go To The Park

I am the youngest of four children.  Despite an age gap of only five years between me and my oldest sibling, my parents separated us into "the big kids" and the "little kids."  My two older sisters were the big kids, and my brother and I were the little kids.  It got to be rather humorous when I was a teenager and still referred to as the little kid, but that is beside the point.

Now that we have kids, we do the same thing.  The first five kids are the big kids and the last three are the littles.  Granted there is a 13 year gap from youngest to oldest, and a four year gap between the big kids and little kids.

Anyway, Chris brought the littles to the park tonight, and he also brought his camera.  Here are the results....

Volunteers?

So, I'm sitting here waiting for some videos to be uploaded to YouTube.  Just derping around while iMovie takes its own sweet time.  I'm noticing that the banner picture on my blog is several years old.  We don't look like that anymore!

I need someone to volunteer to take a really nice picture of our whole family....for free....

Any takers???

Let's Get This Straight

Well, that about does it!

Sweet Emily had her hair straightened today by our dear friend and stylist, Amy, in preparation for the Father/Daughter Tea on Saturday.  While I prefer her gorgeous curls, sweet Emily likes the feeling of straight hair.

Now the job is going to be keeping her head dry until Saturday.  Difficult in the current weather conditions (At least it's pretty!)

Some Things Never Change

Unfortunately, I am one of those things that DOES change!

On a whim, I tried on my wedding dress today. The changes were quickly evident...primarily in the form of wrinkles....on the dress and on me.  I am showing great restraint in not photoshopping the wrinkles off my face!

Well, that was a hoot.  Don't think I'll be putting that on again anytime soon!

The Family Photo

For most of my growing up years, there was a truly hideous family photo hanging on our wall.  I wish I had a copy of it to show you, but alas I don't.  It might help you to imagine it if I told you that polyester was the dominant feature....oh, and straight, long, stringy hair.

Anyway, now that I'm grown and have a family of my own, I can show you our own truly hideous family photo...

Aside from the fact that few of us are looking our best, the photographer was apparently having difficulty fitting us all in the frame, thus Raelea's and Zoe's floating heads.  As embarrassing as it is to admit, this gem did hang on our wall for a time.

There is one family photo that has been prominently displayed in our home for the past 14 years.

Unlike the first photo, there's a story behind this one.  We had taken the three kids in to get their photos taken.  The photographer was making some adjustment to her camera which took a little bit of time.  While she was doing that, the kids were just sitting there bored.  Apparently while adjusting the camera, the photographer accidentally shot a candid picture, and this is what the kids were doing....
We fell in love with the picture because it so accurately caught each of the kids personalities, and so it will remain prominently displayed!

Friday Fotos

 It was a good week.
