This year I'm doing something different. We're having a Free Sale. It's kind of like a garage sale only everything is free. God has blessed us with an abundance of things (i.e., clothes and toys). Although we are very grateful for all that we have, we certainly don't need it all. While sitting in church one Sunday and listening to a sermon on loving your neighbor, it occurred to me that we NEED to give away some of what we have. There are so many people out of work right now, struggling to get by and my little kids' closets are overflowing (literally). It just isn't right. Now I could give our excess to the local thrift store and that would be good, but I want to personally bless people.
Here's how it's going to work: First, I will let my personal friends who are in need know what I have available and they get first dibs after that, I will pick a date, advertise and open the doors for anyone. I can't wait. This is going to be so fun!
Btw, if you have been blessed with an excess as well and would like to share, feel free to join us in our Free Sale.
What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Let me know the date. I've been collecting things all year for an anticipated garage sale. Free sounds so much easier.
ReplyDeleteWhat about a bake sale/ lemonade stand in conjunction with the free stuff?
Jen,
ReplyDeleteI'll let you know when it will be. I'm thinking either May or early June. I'm piling up stuff at a rapid rate as I go through the clothes bins to get out the summer clothes.
Nina would be all over a baked goods/lemonade stand.
I'll give you a call and we can chat...

My mom thought you should check this out.

neat idea Barb! I can picture Nina in charge of the bake sale/lemonaid stand. That will be a very tasty treat table with nina in charge.
ReplyDeleteMaggie/Kathy,
ReplyDeleteGood idea. So, we can have our free sale and then sell baked goods and donate the proceeds. I like that idea :)
