A Riddle For You

I found six of these today around the house.
None of them were where they belong.
All except one were black.
All except one belong to the same person.
Most were on the floor, but two were on the kitchen island and one was on the mantle.

What are they?

    Dietrich guesses socks. I would guess coffee (or, in your case, tea) mugs.
